CIDER AND PORK FESTIVAL

25.4.15

Location: Oakover Grounds, Swan Valley.

Today, was such a beautiful Autumn day for the fist day of the Cider and Pork Festival running on the 25th and 26th of April 2015, 12-8pm. I was so excited to be invited and to be able to experience their first annual event in Perth. Considering it was their first year- they did an absolutely amazing job. There was plentiful free parking and the general entry fee was a mere $20-25, or $100 for VIP.  As we arrived, there were already hundreds of people lining up for the Cider and Ales not to mention how busy the Food Trucks were and those early comers sprawled across the front of the three Busking stages.

The food was delicious, although for me it was quite limited being a vegetarian. We had the Deep Fried Mac and Cheese Bites $8 from Chloe & Kelly (MKR), the Custard Apple, Pear & Quince Crumble $5 and Wilson had the Pancetta & White Bean Stew w/ Parsley, Smoked Paprika Gemolata $10 from The Stables Bar. We also sampled most of  the Ciders, our favourites were the Raspberry Infused Cider $10 from Indian Ocean Brewing Co., the Premium & Cloudy Cider from Batlow Cider and the Pink Lady Apple Cider from Young Henrys. We also ended up trying the Raspberry Fields Cocktail $15 from the Cider Fusion Cocktail Bar though, I did prefer the Raspberry Infused Cider of the two.

We sat on the grass, close to Busking Stage #2 while we had our food and at that moment, the ambiance was just perfect. The sun was shining, people were dancing and singer from Perth- Nate Lansdell was performing a good variety of songs that put everyone in a good mood. The event was very well organised and I was so glad to be able to experience it. Perth really needs more of these kind of events and for it to be set at the beautiful Oakover Grounds, it is definitely the kind of event I would go back to every year.

The Cider and Pork Festival will be running again tomorrow so get your tickets and enjoy a relaxing Sunday Sesh at the Oakover Grounds.
